As American malls abandoned supermarket tenantry in the 1970s, what few "out-of-town" centres that were built in Great Britain continued to feature grocery stores. Waitrose, based in Berkshire ["bark-sheer"] County, UK, junior-anchored London's BRENT CROSS CENTRE. The mall first traded to the public in 1976. The Waitrose store is still in operation at the mall today.
